Let’s Make Mondays About Becoming, Not Just Surviving

Happy Monday. Some weeks, Monday feels like a fresh start. Other weeks, it feels like a mountain we’re already halfway buried under.

Consistency is key, so join me in the Monday Message tradition. I’m sharing a short Monday Message each week. Think of it as a reset button—something relatable, something we all wrestle with, and most importantly, a practical way to move forward. I work with people every day who are trying to balance family, work, and life’s curveballs. What I’ve learned is that most of us don’t need more information. We need simple reminders and small shifts we can apply right now.

Why Mondays Matter

Mondays set the tone. If we drift into the week, we usually drift through it. When we choose one small intention on Monday—one behavior, one mindset—we create momentum that compounds by Friday. The goal here isn’t perfection. It is direction.

The Monday Message Format

Each Monday, I’ll do three things:

  1. Name a common challenge. Something you’re likely to feel at home, at work, or in your own head.

  2. Offer a practical tool or perspective. A small, specific shift you can try this week.

  3. Issue a simple challenge. A one-step action that builds confidence and clarity.

Short, real, and immediately usable.

Three Small Shifts to Start This Week Strong

To kick this off, here are three shifts you can try today. Pick one. Do it fully. Notice what changes.

1) Name it to tame it.
When tension spikes—emails, kids, deadlines—pause and say (quietly or in your head), “I’m feeling pressure.” Naming the experience creates a gap between stimulus and response. In that gap, you get to choose.

2) One thing done beats five things started.
Pick the single task that would most relieve pressure if completed today. Finish it early. Let that win set your pace.

3) Take a 90-second reset.
Breathe in through your nose for four counts, hold for two, out for six. Do three rounds. Your body hears “we’re safe,” and your brain responds with better choices.

What You Can Expect Each Monday

You’ll see themes like:

  • Anxiety and old wounds—and how to respond with awareness.

  • Anger as a boundary—and how to pause before you react.

  • Shame vs. guilt—and what it takes to reclaim worth.

  • Masculinity with depth—strength that holds, rather than dominates.

  • The spiral of growth—why progress rarely travels in a straight line.

No jargon. No lectures. Just grounded insights and tools you can use in the real world.

How to Use These Messages

  • Pick one idea. Apply it for one week.

  • Track one shift. Write one sentence each evening: “What worked today?”

  • Share it with someone. Growth sticks when it is witnessed.

Why I’m Doing This

I’ve spent nearly three decades coaching and mentoring, and I’ve lived through my own collapses and rebuilds. I believe we’re all capable of becoming more—more honest, more courageous, more present—when we have simple practices and a community that calls us forward. This series is one way I can serve that mission.

Your Challenge This Week

Choose one of the three small shifts above. Put it on a sticky note. Keep it visible. Do it today. Repeat it tomorrow. Then notice how Friday feels.

If you want support, I’m here. I’d be happy to sit down with you for a free 30-minute introduction and explore what you want to build next—at home, at work, and in yourself.

Let’s make Mondays about becoming, not just surviving.
